Mind Your Church
The Church matters so does your mental health!
The church plays a vital role in the life of a believer. It is a place where we learn, grow and have fellowship with other individuals. According to Acts 2:44-45 NIVAll the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Unfortunately the challenges of mental health are affecting this community. Statistic Canada states that 1 in 5 adults experience mental illness.
As pastors and mental health coaches, we aim to have a discussion in tackling the mental health challenges that a believer faces and present strategies to assist in the process of healing.
Let’s discuss the importance of mental health in the body of Christ.

Strategize Your Life (8-week Workshop)
Our program, presented by Dean and Jacqueline, is designed to help individuals gain a deeper understanding of how their senses can influence their mindset. This empowers them to move toward a purpose-filled life. Topics include character building, thought patterns, spoken word, and discovering your purpose.
Mentorship

Our Mentorship Program is designed to assist youth, families, couples, and individuals of all ages. Whether you are seeking to grow in your relationship with God, identify and understand your unique gifts, or work through challenges that may be hindering your purpose, we are here to support you.
Through meaningful discussions, we address mental health challenges and provide strategies to assist in the healing process, helping you move forward with clarity and purpose.”

SLYC has become one of my favourite places to be to learn about God and His ways! My passion for Jesus has only grown stronger as we discuss different topics about Him and all things spiritually related together with each other. I love hearing people’s different personal stories here at SLYC as it connects to how Jesus has worked in each and every one of our lives differently. God’s encounter with each of us is unique and powerful and SLYC does a great job at showing this as people share their testimonies. This community has a welcoming feel to it when I enter, as I’m met with smiles and acknowledgement. We all come from different backgrounds to gather with each other to praise Jesus for all He’s done for us and to express our deep love for Him Everyone is free to share their inputs on different topics and ask questions with no judgement. SYLC finishes it all off beautifully with great food at the end that is free for everyone to eat with prayer over it. I truly enjoy coming here every week as there’s never a dull moment here! I leave learning something new about God and reflecting on the topic that was discussed. God answered my prayers as I wanted nothing more than to reconnect with my childhood pastor and have him spread the gospel and messages about Jesus.

My family and I enjoy attending SYLC because it is NOT "church" as you are used to. The pastors allow us to be involved in the message that is being preached. We are not just sitting there taking in the sermon message and then go home. We get to also learn how the message can work in our lives daily. Pastor Dean and Pastor Jacquie pray for the concerns of the congregation and they are transparent people. They pour into those that attend and also into the guests. They do NOT judge anyone on appearance they are authentic in their love for GOD and for people.
